Ronald Neal was born in Freckenham in 1921 (Mildenhall Q3-1921 4A:1733) the son of John Thomas and Emily NEAL (née WILD). His father was a small holder and they lived at The Bungalow, Freckenham.

In 1939 his parents were at Mortimers Lane - father [27-8-1885] a small holder; mother [24-4-1892]


Handley Page Halifax Mk II (HR859) call sign MH-? left RAF Snaith ( near Goole in Yorkshire) at 00:04 on 2nd August 1943 for a bombing raid on Hamburg. She never returned. All her crew of seven ( all Sergeants) are commemorated on the RAF Memorial at Runnymede. What his role was is not known, but from his position on the crew list he was not the pilot.

Possibly they were shot down by Major Radusch of II/NJG3. The pilot Sergeant Edward R Sklarchuk (R.C.A.F.) and his crew all died
